CFA PILES / CASED AUGER PILES

CFA piles are concrete deep foundation elements formed by a Continuous Flight Auger (continuous screw or auger), where the soil is drilled out and replaced with concrete. By using large diameters and deep anchoring in load-bearing layers, they can accommodate high load capacities for the new construction’s weight.

  • When drilling into the ground with the hollow continuous auger, the drill removes the soil. Once the drill reaches the desired depth, the machine pours concrete through the hollow auger while the auger is gradually pulled up.

  • After placing the piles, a steel reinforcement element is added to the fresh concrete to strengthen the connection with the pile head. The steel reinforcement element can also be pre-inserted through the hollow auger to provide “long” piles over the entire length of a structural element if necessary.

  • Soil-displacing piles can be constructed using various types of continuous augers, depending on the type of soil. Some continuous augers have a large inner tube and a limited screw blade, which minimizes soil removal and relaxation. The tube can even cause slight soil compaction, leading to higher load capacities.

While pulling up the auger, concrete mortar is simultaneously pumped through the hollow tube into the ground.
