DOUBLE DISPLACEMENT POLES

Double displacement poles are concrete deep foundation elements with a high load-bearing capacity. During installation, they compress the soil around the pole. Unlike soil-relieving poles, they more easily achieve higher resistance and can better absorb the loads of the new construction.

  • When drilling into the ground with a hollow steel tube equipped with a displacement body at the bottom (drill head), the soil is pushed away. Once the desired depth is reached, concrete is poured through the hollow steel tube. The displacement body and the tube are then gradually pulled up. During the upward movement, the displacement body is rotated in the opposite direction, displacing the soil again. Therefore, these poles are also called double displacement poles.

  • After placing the poles, a steel reinforcement element is inserted into the fresh concrete to strengthen the connection with the pile head. If necessary, the steel reinforcement element is pre-guided through the hollow tube to provide ‘long’ poles over the entire length of a structural element.

  • Displacement poles can be realized with different drill heads, depending on the type of soil. For higher loads, screw-shaped poles are used, which optimize concrete consumption. On the other hand, smooth poles are used, which more easily drill through hard layers or are inserted into such layers.

Double displacement poles are poles that are formed completely vibration-free in the ground by displacing the subsoil.
